...you do an 11 hour shift and you don't mind.
I really get on with everyone in the studio, even though tensions sometimes arise as everyone is under a lot of stress with their deadlines drawing closer and there's not much space; the majority of the time there is a good atmosphere in the studio.
I got to work at 9:30am and left about 8:30pm, and under other circumstances I'd probably have come home in an awful mood but 1) I offered to stay and 2) it's so easy to stay late without realising! Having someone be so positive about what you're doing, even if you do make mistakes, really does make a difference to the way you work, and how much you put into what you're doing.
So back to the diary;
Today I finished off the toile for the denim jacket that I'd started yesterday and I have to say I am so glad that one is out the way because it was so confusing; or maybe I was just too tired to make sense of it yesterday, I don't know but either way it is done!
(Left: Over-sized denim jacket toile, minus the sleeves.
Right: the freaky blow-up rat I was greeted by when getting of the subway the morning)
After that I had a little break and bite to eat (I'd ran out the front door with a piece of bread and a banana this morning and it'd worn of very quickly) before starting the toile for the parka; perhaps my favourite garment in the collection.
We spent late afternoon beginning to cut out all the athletic mesh that is used for panels, sports bras, t-shirts etc whilst we waited for a fitting with Shelly to show her all the toiles. I like to be around for the fittings even though I could've gone home loads earlier, and today was good because all the toiles I'd been working on were approved with just minor changes, which means all the garments have been approved and now everything is going to really kick off! I'm so excited to see the collection coming together (I just have to not think about the fact I'm leaving before completion) Also, with any luck a few of Carly's print fabrics will arrive tomorrow and we can get cutting all that out too :)
I'll add photos and pictures from the processes in a bit later, but I probably won't post finished garments as it's important for Carly to keep her collection under-wraps until it's shown at New York Fashion Week.
Anyway, first long day done and dusted so I'd best get to sleep!
(p.s. someone please pay for me to extend my stay by 7 days?)
Love xo
